- 7 Breakfasts and 3 Dinners
- Transportation in mini-coach and Outlander driver/guide
- Entrances to Doune Castle, Castle Leod Tour and Distillery visit & whisky tasting
Day 1- Arrival at Glasgow Airport, where you will be met at arrivals and accompanied to your coach for your transfer to your Edinburgh hotel. In the early evening there is a get-together hosted by a member of the Clan Fraser, where you will learn more about the clan’s history. Then enjoy your first evening in Scotland’s capital city.
Day 2- Explore the cobbled streets of Edinburgh’s Old Town and Royal Mile. Discover its narrow closes and wynds from Holyrood Palace, via Canongate up to Edinburgh Castle. Learn the hidden secrets of these ancient streets on this guided half-day walking tour. Your afternoon will be free to explore further at your own pace.
Day 3: The adventure continues when you leave Edinburgh with your guide. This morning you are on the trail of Outlander filming locations, beginning with the village of Falkland, which was the set for old Inverness in the Outlander TV series, and then Doune Castle, used in filming as Castle Leoch. You then head north into the Highlands, stopping to taste the “water of life” at a whisky distillery, before continuing through the Cairngorm Mountains. Stop to visit the Newtonmore Highland Folk museum before heading to Aviemore, where you will spend the next 3 nights.
Day 4: Today you visit the city of Inverness, the setting for many of Outlander’s dramatic events and today the capital of the Highlands. Then visit Culloden battlefield, which played such an important role in Scottish history and in the Outlander series, and take a short drive to the ancient standing stones at Clava Cairns, the inspiration for Craigh na Dun.
Day 5: This morning will take you to Beauly, and the site of Beauly Priory and the tomb of Lord Lovat and Fraser Clan lands. You then continue to Strathpeffer to visit Castle Leod, seat of the Clan Mackenzie. In the afternoon you visit the Clan Centre at Storehouse to hear what life was like in the area in 1790 and learn more about the clan system in Scotland. There might be time to look out for the Waterhorse at Loch Garve!
Day 6: Today you visit the beautiful area of Glen Affric, surrounded on all sides by stunning Caledonian pine forest. This is big Scottish countryside, ideal for Jamie to hide! Then drive the length of Loch Ness, looking out for Nessie. You travel through magnificent Glencoe and over desolate Rannoch Moor – the spectacular scenery of this part of the Highlands will give you a lasting flavour of being part of Outlander before returning to Glasgow, where you say goodbye to your guide.
Day 7: A free day in Glasgow to spend as you please.
